Some amazing photos Captain Tamas took with his Olympus underwater camera of the pod of 30 whales I swam with during my Atlantic Crossing.
There were maybe 30 pilot whales in the pod. The first one came at me from under the boat like a torpedo. He was separated from the rest of the pod because he was crazy, or there was something wrong with him. That gave me heart a jump start! But swimming with these amazing animals is the essence of why I love this so much. What a spectacular sight.
Here’s one of me in my wetsuit that we painted with stripes using nail polish remover and glue. Striped fish are poisonous so we thought this might help ward any potential predators away.
